I am the owner of Midshires Mushrooms. Myself and my partner purchased our 10 acre farm in October 2018, set in beautiful rural Derbyshire. One evening whilst browsing the internet, I came across a course in low tech mushroom farming. I watched as many You-tube videos and read as much as possible and decided this was something I wanted to do!
I signed up to the course and set about creating our very own gourmet mushroom farm. We utilised some redundant buildings on the farm and created the necessary areas and environments for the mushrooms to thrive. The process of growing mushrooms has been a fascinating adventure.
Our aim is to grow delicious gourmet mushrooms and supply the locaal area. We want to grow as sustainably as possible, using locally sourced materials and ensuring our products travel as few miles as possible. We aim to harvest and deliver on the same day if possible to ensure the product is at its freshest.
Once we have found our feet with the easier types of mushrooms, we hope to diversify the range to offer our customers more choice.
